![]() About MKNA Switchboard Community |
What is MKNA?MKNA- Meridian-Kessler Neighborhood Association- was formed in 1965 by a group of residents "deeply devoted to our area and to justice." The purpose of the association was, and is, to bring about a closer relationship between all people, welcome new residents and businesses, monitor zoning and guard against illegal conversion of single-family housing, maintain quality schools in the area, and provide adequate municipal services for all residents. MKNA established the first curbside recycling program in Indiana. This organization drew the police back to the neighborhood with the establishment of Quad I, now the North District Precinct of the Indianapolis Police Department. MKNA is an active participant with a consortium of six youth-serving agencies, The Meridian-Kessler Development Corp., North District Task Force, Maple Road Coalition and a member of MCANA, the Marion County Alliance of Neighborhood Associations. What Does MKNA Do?
