    Foundations for the Future

Do you know a young adult who could use a jump-start getting their career up and running? The Foundations for the Future program could be just what they need. In just four short weeks, they could be on the right path for making career and educational decisions that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. The Foundations for the Future program is designed to assess employment and educational needs. This four-week program combines job readiness workshops with extensive computer training. Students can also work toward their GED at the same time!

In Foundations for the Future, students will learn many important skills that will help them secure the career that is right for them. Students will be taught important interviewing skills and shown how to write an effective resume. They will also be trained in all Microsoft Office applications, including MS Word and MS Excel. These computer skills are useful in a wide variety of employment and educational applications. Upon completing the program, students will also be given vouchers to purchase clothing that may be needed for interviewing. Job placement assistance is also provided, as well as post-employment follow-ups. Hear what former Foundations for the Future students have said about the program:

    • This class changed my whole life around..
    • I would recommend the program to a lot of people..
    • I enjoyed it a lot..

It costs no money to enroll in Foundations for the Future, and we will assist students with whatever resources they need to complete the program. Each class has room for up to twelve participants, and new classes begin every five weeks. Classes are currently scheduled to begin on March 21st, and April 25th. Classes are held at the Martin Luther King Service Center on Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to Noon for four weeks. Contact Reccia Hatchett at 923-4581, extension 250 for more information.
