The Senate Utility Committee has called a hearing about HB1164 for this Thursday, April 1st at 9:00am. This will be at the State House in person in room 130. There is no virtual option. There will be time for members of the public to submit testimony and explain why we oppose this legislation as written, and support common sense requirements and co-location of equipment. HB1164 as written would grant telecom companies nearly unfettered access to the public ROW, remove height restrictions on towers, remove nearly all local review authority on placement and number installed. MKNA is advocating for more local control, interfacing with neighborhoods, required notification of all property owners and registered neighborhood organizations within 500′ of a proposed tower location, and MOST importantly: co-location of equipment to prevent multiple installations by competing companies.
