2024 Vi Walker Neighborhood Grant Program Recipients
Our Neighborhood Grant Program is named in memory of Vi Walker, a longtime resident, business owner and staunch supporter of Meridian-Kessler. You allow us to continue the Vi Walker Neighborhood Grant Program when you support the Home Tour – through attending, volunteering, donating, or sponsoring.
We are proud to fund these 2024 Vi Walker Neighborhood Grant Program Recipients:
- CFI School 70 was awarded $6,000 for their Safe Routes to School Program. The award became the required match amount for the DPW grant the school received that provided for new pedestrian infrastructure at 46th and Park, including a new sidewalk with curb bump outs, painted crossings and rapid flashing beacon signs.
- Take Note Concert Series was awarded $5000 for nine concerts offered throughout the school year, free of charge to the community. Each concert featured emerging or established musicians with a variety of music styles.
- Heritage Place Senior Center was awarded $2,500 to purchase tablets to be used in their monthly Senior Planet technology classes.
- Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and School was awarded $1,500 for exterior lighting. This lighting was placed around the parameter of the grounds to increase sidewalk visibility and safety for the neighborhood area.
