Now in it’s fifth year, D.I.V.A. Summer Songwriting Camp, a program of The Overture Institute, offers young women (ages 10-16) the opportunity to be immersed in music & songwriting, surrounded by some of the country’s most influential professional musicians. The Overture Institute exists to empower and prepare women to be successful, influential members of the arts community by providing inspiring, applicable and life-changing education opportunities for female musicians of all ages.
D.I.V.A. Summer Songwriting Camp will take place from June 22-26 at Hilbert Circle Theatre, just a short drive from the Meridian Kessler neighborhood. The camp is open to girls ages 10-16 at any level of musical skill. Under the guidance of professional musicians, campers will learn two instruments and form a band with their new friends. Campers will also take master classes in vocal techniques, songwriting practices, and performance skills. On Friday, June 26, the bands will debut their original songs at Hilbert Circle Theatre for family and friends. This year, DIVA is very excited to announce that it will host resident songwriting coaches Amy Speace and Ron Browning, who will consult the bands on their songwriting.
