The MLK Center will be open next week for families of IPS School #43 for “extended spring break services” from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Additional families outside of #43 will be welcomed as capacity permits. Here are some additional ways you can support the community during this time:

Community-Based Tasks (Volunteers Needed):

  • Deliver lunches and dinners to families (Sign Up Here)
  • Play with kids – play at the park, coloring, art, sing karaoke, read a book, shoot hoops, etc.* (Sign Up Here)
  • Serve lunch (Sign Up Here)
  • Clean and sanitize the building (Sign Up Here)

*If you want to volunteer directly with children (reading, sports, playing at the park, serving lunch, etc). Complete the state police background check. It is currently $16, and you can complete it all online and email it to us or bring it with you. If you currently work in a job that requires a background check, that will meet our requirement.

Donations:

If you would like to donate food or household supplies, they can be donated at the front desk from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. We will utilize these supplies at the MLK Center and make them available to families in need. Suggested items include snacks, breakfast items, disposable plates, aluminum foil, microwaveable containers, board games, cards, etc.
